DENTAL PROGRAMME
Project Scope: Engaged by the University of Otago as their Project Director, successfully managing and overseeing the delivery of the programme from conception to benefits realisation. In total circa 20,000m2 of development over six years.
The programme scope included:

Programme budget: circa $160m Programme: Nov 2014 – Mar 2021
Outcomes: A challenging project, both logistically and technically. The new dental school (CSB) includes 220 new dental units, a hospital floor with operating theatres and a CSSD. The construction was staged over three phases. The first phase involved the demolition of the existing West Wing, and archaeological and contaminated soil management. The second phase involved construction of the CSB, connected via an atrium to the Walsh building (still in operation), and thirdly the refurbishment of the Walsh building for teaching, offices and research.
The CSB was commissioned in just three weeks to enable as little downtime as possible between decommissioning the Walsh building and occupation of the new CSB. Phase three included replacing the heritage facade with a high performance replicated curtain wall system to match the original. The project was successfully completed in March 2021, following a three-month operational commissioning period led by PPL.
The Auckland dental facility was constructed at the Counties Manukau Health DHB Super Clinic site in South Auckland. The project included the construction of a 32 chair dental facility and a carpark. The project was successfully delivered ahead of time and under budget in January 2020. The project utilised relationship contracting, and the success of the project was due to an integrated project team working collaboratively with a shared project vision. This project won a Property Council Highly Commended Award in the Education Category in 2020. Specialist tasks undertaken: Project Management, Procurement and Contract Administration, Specialist Equipment and FF&E procurement, Programme Management, Risk and Issues Management, Operational Commissioning including Move Logistics, Stakeholder Management, Project Governance Referee: On request
